Methodology
How published investment cases are measured, judged and moderated. The same rules apply to every author.
Return Since Publication
Every case is measured from the price at the moment it was published, not from when the author started thinking about it and not from a better price later.
The return is shown on the case's own side. For a long it is the price change; for a short it is the price change inverted, so a short gains when the price falls. Shorts also show the raw stock move next to it.
Returns are price-only: they exclude dividends, borrow costs, fees, taxes and currency moves. International listings are measured in their local currency.
Prices come from market data providers, are delayed, and are refreshed about every hour.
Target and Stop Hits
A case reaches its target or its stop when the price touches the published level: at or above the target for a long (at or below for a short), and the mirror image for the stop.
We check daily closing prices since publication and the hourly price. A level touched only within a day and recovered by the close does not count.
The first level reached is recorded and does not change afterwards.
Closed Cases
When the author closes a case, its return is frozen at the close. Closed cases that reached their target or stop are listed under the Closed filter on the board.
Revisions
Authors can update a published case, but the ticker and the direction are locked once published, and performance is always measured from the original publication price.
Every published change is recorded in a public audit log at the bottom of the case, with the text before and after, and the case shows when it was last updated.
Track Records
An author's record includes every case they have published: open, closed, and cases they later unpublished. Unpublished cases still count, frozen at the last price before they were withdrawn, so a record cannot be improved by quietly removing the ideas that did not work.
Average return is the simple average of each case's return on its own side. Hit rate is targets reached divided by targets plus stops reached, among closed cases.
The Top Authors ranking requires at least five priced cases.
Cases removed by moderation are excluded from records.
Editorial Desk
Cases labeled Editorial are written by our research desk with AI research assistance and reviewed by the team before publication. Each one shows how its price levels were set.
Editorial cases are held to the same rules as everyone else's: same measurement, same audit log, same track record.
Votes and Moderation
Votes reflect community opinion, not quality or suitability. You can't vote on your own case.
Signed-in readers can report a case. The editorial desk reviews reports and can remove cases that are promotional, misleading or not investment cases; the author keeps the case privately and is told why.
Not Investment Advice
Published cases are the authors' own views at the time of publication and are for information only. Nothing on the board is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Past performance of a case or an author says nothing certain about the future.
