Thesis

The rebound from the June low prices in an AI recovery that the organic numbers do not yet show. Seat-based Sales and Service still carry the revenue, and headline growth now leans on acquisitions funded partly by debt.

How These Levels Were Set

Entry 230: a bounce toward the Oct 5 close of 229.79 (per CNBC), which a retail commentary also flags as a recovery level near 229.96. The last close was 224.99. Price target 192: the 200-day moving average of 192.23 (per MarketBeat). It is also near the Aug 14 close of 196.21 and implies about 11.5x FY27 non-GAAP EPS guidance. Stop 250: above the roughly 244 post-Q2 trading level (24/7 Wall St. quoted 244.20) and well below the 52-week high of 269.11. Support 224: the 50-day moving average of 224.01. Resistance 244: the post-Q2 level cited above. The next support below 224 is the 200-day at 192.23.

Catalysts
  1. 1Contentful and Fin deals are due to close in fiscal Q3, which ends Oct 31 (per Q2 release), and integration cost and dilution disclosure would follow.
  2. 2Q3 FY27 earnings, estimated Dec 2 to Dec 8 and not yet confirmed, test the roughly 14% cRPO guide and organic growth ex-acquisitions.
  3. 3Any sale of the Anthropic stake to repay buyback debt, which Benioff floated at Investor Day (per TIKR), would show how much of the deleveraging depends on a…
Key Risks
  1. 1cRPO growth accelerated to 14% and Agentforce plus Data 360 ARR is up over 210% (per Q2 release), so AI monetization may be arriving faster than the bear cas…
  2. 2At about 13.5x forward EPS, with a share count cut from about 962M to 821M and free cash flow guided near $15B (per TIKR), valuation and buyback support may…
  3. 3The Street is bullish (consensus target about $275 per MarketBeat) and the stock is up about 54% from its low, so a short faces squeeze risk on any beat or r…

The stock has rallied from a 146.32 low on June 22 to about 225 (per CNBC), which is roughly 13.5x FY27 non-GAAP EPS guidance of $16.67 to $16.71 (per Q2 FY27 release, Aug 26). The market is treating that low multiple as a floor. The short case is that the multiple is low because the seat base is at risk, and the rebound is relief rather than evidence. Headline growth is partly bought. FY27 revenue guidance of 11% to 12% includes slightly above 3 points from Informatica, so organic growth is high single digits (per Q2 release). The Q2 guidance raise was $100M organic, $200M from the pending Contentful and Fin deals, and a $100M FX headwind. Agentforce ARR passed $1.5B, small against a guided $46.1B to $46.4B revenue base. If agents reduce the seats customers license, the installed base is the exposed part. Management is also paying for growth, with Fin at about $3.6B and Contentful at about $1.5B in cash (per 10-Q). Macro angle: the $25B debt-funded buyback took total debt to about $42.4B (per TIKR). Higher-for-longer rates and a stronger dollar, which already trimmed the FX tailwind in guidance, bear on this name directly. What has to be true: Q3 and Q4 show seat or renewal pressure beneath the acquired contribution, and Agentforce stays too small to offset it.
Updates Since Publication
  1. Oct 13, 2026 · Price 239.63

Weekly check-in: Weakened. Bear-case anchor upgraded, deals closed early, no new evidence of seat erosion Nothing new has appeared on seat or renewal pressure, which the thesis needs. The week's main news worked against the short. Per Investing.com and Yahoo Finance, BofA double-upgraded CRM from Underperform to Buy on Oct 12, raising its target to $285 from $160. Its reason was that CIO checks suggest AI is unlikely to displace core platforms. The stock moved to about $239.6 on Oct 13, which is above the 230 entry level and about 4% below the 250 stop.

  2. Oct 20, 2026 · Price 241.65

Weekly check-in: On Track. Braze deal adds to the acquired-growth leg; seat-erosion evidence still missing The one material new fact is Tuesday's Braze announcement. Per Reuters and the 8-K, Salesforce will pay about $5.66B, or $47.50 a share in cash, with closing in fiscal 2028. That backs the 'growth is bought, balance sheet is stretched' half of the thesis. It does nothing for the half that has to be true, which is seat or renewal pressure beneath the acquired contribution. There is still no new organic data, and the next test is the Q3 print in early December. Because of that, I move the verdict up from weakened to on_track rather than to strengthened.
