RKLB has fallen about 66% from its May 27 high of $151 on a second Neutron slip, while revenue is growing 62%, backlog is at a record $2.36B and Iridium adds cash-generative revenue. If the replacement dome clears Q1 2027 tank tests, the shares have room to re-rate toward the post-delay analyst targets in the $67 to $90 area.

How These Levels Were Set

Entry 51.00: close to the Oct 20 trading price of about $51.4 and just above the Oct 20 intraday low of $49.25. It is a reference zone, not a forecast. Support 49.25: the Oct 20 intraday low (per Motley Fool/Robinhood data). The next major floor is the 52-week low of $37.57 (Nov 21, 2025). Resistance 64.22: the Oct 13 close before the Neutron delay announcement (per Benzinga). Closes of $64-$68 between Oct 8 and Oct 13 make that area supply. Price target 67.00: matches Goldman Sachs' cut target, close to the roughly $66 average price of the Iridium share sale, and just above the low end of the $64-$150 analyst target range. At about 598M shares it implies a market cap near $40B, or roughly 39x annualised Q3 guidance midpoint. TD Cowen's $90 and the roughly $100 consensus are the upside case. Stop 44.00: about 10% below the $49.25 support low and about 14% below entry, and still above the $37.57 52-week low. Reward to risk to the target is about 2.3x.

Catalysts
  1. 1Q3 2026 earnings, scheduled for Nov 3 after the close per MarketBeat/Ad Hoc News: revenue against the $250M-$265M guide, cash burn, and any Neutron schedule…
  2. 2Replacement Neutron forward dome built and inspected before year-end 2026, per management.
  3. 3Neutron first-stage tank assembly, pressure and cryo testing in Q1 2027, followed by a more precise launch date from Beck.
  4. 4Iridium closing, targeted for mid-2027 after shareholders approved the deal on Sep 24 (99.6% of votes cast).
  5. 5New launch and Space Systems awards: more than $1B of new contracts were signed in Q3 to date per the Q2 release. Electron cadence and the first Neutron flig…
Key Risks
  1. 1Neutron has now slipped twice, and the Q1 2027 tank tests could fail or slip again. Another delay pushes back the free cash flow turning point and weakens tr…
  2. 2Cash burn and dilution: Q2 operating cash outflow was $84.1M and free cash flow stays negative. The company already sold 29.3M shares for Iridium, and more e…
  3. 3Valuation is still high for an unprofitable company. Trailing P/S is about 42x per WallStreetZen, Q2 GAAP EPS of -$0.08 missed the -$0.06 consensus, and beta…
  4. 4Iridium integration and competition: Iridium adds about $1.775B of debt, the close is not until mid-2027, and SpaceX is acquiring spectrum for Starlink direc…
  5. 5Technical damage and sentiment: the stock broke below key support to its lowest level since December, sits well below the 50-day ($68.86) and 200-day ($84.24…

What the market is pricing in: the stock closed around $51 on Oct 20, versus $151.00 at the May 27 peak and $37.57 at the Nov 2025 low (per Nasdaq/CNBC quotes). TIKR data cited by press put the peak at about 89x forward sales. The Oct 14-15 announcement that Neutron's first flight moves to 2027 was the second slip. Management also said the free cash flow turning point comes the quarter after a successful test launch, so each delay pushes it out (per 24/7 Wall St, Oct 16). Shares fell about 20% in a week. Why the long case can work: the operating business did not slip. Q2 revenue was a record $234M, up 62% year on year, and backlog was $2.36B, up 137% (per the Aug 10 Q2 release). Q3 revenue guidance is $250M to $265M. Launch backlog is above 90 missions, and Rocket Lab won a $397M Space Force SB-AMTI satellite contract that launches on Neutron. The delay does not cancel this demand. It shifts the timing of Neutron revenue. On Q3 guidance midpoint annualised (about $1.03B), the roughly $30.7B market cap is about 30x sales, against a stock that traded at 80-90x forward sales in May. The cause of the delay looks fixable. Beck said engineers reproduced the dome defect, changed the manufacturing process and produced a clean aft dome. A replacement forward dome is being built, with tank assembly and pressure and cryo tests planned for Q1 2027 (per Yahoo Finance/Benzinga, Oct 2026). A process flaw is usually quicker to fix than a design flaw. Iridium is the second leg. The $54 per share deal values Iridium at an enterprise value near $8B and is expected to close mid-2027. Rocket Lab pre-funded the cash portion by selling 29.3M shares for about $1.94B (roughly $66 average), kept Iridium's $1.775B term loan in place and cancelled the $3.6B bridge (per the Sep 2026 8-K). That removes financing risk and adds free cash flow that management says will change the cash profile. What has to be true: (1) the Q1 2027 tank tests pass without another slip; (2) Q3 and Q4 revenue meets guidance with non-GAAP gross margin near the 38-40% range seen in recent guidance; (3) quarterly cash burn, which was $84.1M of operating cash in Q2, does not force more equity beyond the Iridium raise; (4) the Iridium deal closes on schedule. Sell-side targets remain far above the price: Goldman $67, TD Cowen $90, Citizens $90, KeyBanc $100, Cantor $122.
